The hand-made lacquered ‘Light Screen- Urumi’ (dark brown) is produced according to the ancient tradition and craftsmanship of Japanese lacquerware in Wajima, Japan. 
The shape, emblematic of the work of the Bouroullec brothers, creates a luminous arch that highlights the magnificence of lacquer by presenting large shiny surfaces.
When the light is switched on, the illuminated lacquer emanates a subtle glow from its glossy surface.
An object or little sculpture can also be placed under the arch.

* The lacquer technique uses ‘urushi’ - a resin from the sap of a Sumac tree, which is harvested by cutting into the trunk of trees during the 4 months of summer. This material is very valuable because it takes at least 10 years to harvest the sap and only 100 to 200 ml is obtained from a tree each year.
The raw lacquer or ki-urushi is obtained by filtration of the sap, without chemical transformation.
