Vico Magistretti, born in 1920 in Milan, graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1945. Trained as an architect, his work features the sleek lines and geometric shapes so dear to modern architecture.
Magistretti’s design uses a minimal vocabulary of forms:
“I love geometric shapes. I like to create essential forms that look like simple scrolls.”
As one of the most influential Italian designers, he received the Gold Medal at the Triennale in 1951, the Grand Prix of the Triennale in 1954, two Compasso d’Oro awards in 1967 and 1979 and the Gold Medal of the Chartered Society of Industrial Artists and Designers in 1986...

He also taught for 20 years at the prestigious Royal College of Arts in London.
