Biography
Jasper Morrison was born in London in 1959, and graduated in Design at Kingston Polytechnic Design School, London (1979-82 BA (Des.)) and The Royal College of Art for Postgraduate studies (1982-85 MA (Des.) RCA). In 1984 he studied at Berlins HdK on a Scholarship.
In 1986 he set up an Office for Design in London.
In 1995 Jasper Morrison’s office was awarded the contract to design the new Hannover Tram, the largest European light rail production contract of its time, at 500 Million Deutschemarks. The first vehicle was presented to the public in June 1997 at the Hannover Industrial Fair, and awarded the IF Transportation Design Prize and the Ecology award...

Recent exhibitions have included the first “Super Normal” exhibition 2006 as co-curator (with Naoto Fukasawa), Axis Gallery, Tokyo; “Jasper Morrison : take a seat !” at the musée des Arts décoratifs, Paris (2009), “Jasper Morrison au musée” at the musée des Arts décoratifs et du Design, Bordeaux (2009).
Galerie kreo dedicated him two solo shows in 2006 for his new collections « Carrara Tables and Museum Pieces » and « Museum Pieces ».
Projects (a cross-section from 1999-2013) include the design of furniture for Tate Modern in London, « Glo-Ball » for Flos, Italy, “Air-Chair”, Folding Air-Chair” and “Trattoria Chair” for Magis, Italy; a monograph « Everything but the Walls » published by Lars Müller Publishers, Switzerland; a bench for the Roppongi Hills development in Tokyo, Japan; ATM desk system, “Monopod Chair”, “Hal” seating range for Vitra, Switzerland; a line of kitchen appliances for Rowenta, “Knife Fork Spoon”, Pots & Pans, “Glass Family” for Alessi, Italy; a sanitary and brassware range for Ideal Standard, UK; shoes for Camper, Spain; outdoor furniture for Kettal, Spain; chronograph for Rado, Switzerland; telephone and alarm clock for Punkt, Switzerland; kitchenware for Oigen, Japan and many more. In 2005, he founded Super Normal with Naoto Fukasawa. In 2009 opening of the Jasper Morrison Limited Shop in London and in 2011 the launch of a webshop.
Today Jasper Morrison Ltd. consists of three design offices, a main office in London and two branch offices: one in Paris (opened 2002) and one in Tokyo (opened 2007). Services offered by Jasper Morrison Ltd. are wide ranging, from furniture to tableware and kitchen products and lighting, electronics and appliance design, designs for public space and more recently watches, clocks & shoes. Jasper Morrison’s clients are worldwide, united as leaders in their individual fields.
