Biography
Gustave Gautier (1911-1980) first studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nantes, where he was born, before entering at the National High School of the Arts Décoratifs in Paris, in the architecture section. His decisive encounter with René Herbst, which who he became friends, allowed him to familiarize himself with the new principles of the Union of Modern Artists (UAM), of which he became a member at the end of the war. It’s towards the decoration and no more the architecture that he’s oriented himself.
