Biography
Andrea Branzi, architect and designer was born in 1938 in Florence where he graduated in 1966. He has been living and working in Milan since 1973. From 1964 to 1974 he was a member of the group Archizoom Associati, the first avant-garde group to be internationally recognized, whose projects are preserved at CSAC of Parma University; his graduation thesis and other projects are preserved at Centre Pompidou in Paris and at FRAC in Orleans. He was the editor of MODO magazine and co-founder and director of Domus Academy (Milan), the first international post-graduate school of design and was also president of the Bachelor degree in Interior Design of Politecnico di Milano...

Branzi is the author of many books about the history and theory of design, he has been the curator of many exhibitions in this field. In 1987 he received the Compasso d’Oro award for his career.
He works in industrial and experimental design, architecture, urban planning, education and cultural promotion. He is a professor at the third Faculty of Interni and Design of Politecnico di Milano. He has lectured in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, England, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, United States, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Thailand.
He has collaborated with the principal brands of Italian Design (Alessi, Cassina, Zanotta, Poltronova, Olivari, Danese, Magis, Kartell). In May 2008 he received the Laurea Honoris Causa in Design by “la Sapienza” university in Rome and he is an honorary member of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), London.
His projects are today exhibited in many museums worldwide including: the Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Victoria & Albert Museum, (London), the Design Museum Gent (Belgium), the Brooklyn Museum (New York), the Denver Museum of Art, (Denver), the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain (Paris), the Groninger Museum (Groningen), the Fonds Régional d’art contemporain (Orleans), the Houston Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), the Israel Museum (Jerusalem), the MoMA (New York), the musée des Beaux-Arts (Montreal), the musée des Arts décoratifs (Paris), the Vitra Design Museum (Weil am Rhein).
